New Delhi: Indian snack and sweet brand, Haldiram’s has ventured into the US e-commerce market through Amazon’s Global Selling Program, a move that will help it to expand and increase its penetration into the US market- their biggest market globally which accounts for 40% of their annual revenues from offline exports.
With Amazon’s Global Selling program, Haldiram’s is making its first direct venture into e-commerce in the US, the company said in a statement.
“Our loyal customers have helped us retain our leading position in the market for over ten years, and we want to further expand our presence amongst our global customers. With Indians settled across the world, there is a growing appetite for snacks that remind them of home. Collaborating with Amazon’s Global Selling Program allows us direct access to the American market,” said Pankaj Agarwal, managing director at Haldiram Snacks.
Presently, Haldiram’s has US FDA approved selection with customized packaging for the market which has been made live and Fulfilled by Amazon in US. Customers will have access to this selection at prices similar to the offline retail market with the added advantage of Amazon’s 1-day delivery. Nut cracker and Soan Papdi have already become bestsellers within a week of the launch understating the strong demand for the products in the US market, the statement said.

Amazon unveiled its Global Selling Program in India in May 2015 to provide opportunities for Indian sellers to grow and scale through e-commerce exports. Clocking $1 billion dollars in cumulative exports till now, Amazon’s Global Selling program is expected to generate $5 billion in cumulative export sales by 2023 for Indian exporters enrolled in this program. Currently, over 50,000 Indian manufacturers, traders, and brands use this platform to sell over 150M products across 12 Amazon international marketplaces worldwide such as Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.
