Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has manufactured 41 new aircraft, helicopters besides 98 new engines during fiscal 2018-19, according to a financial update issued by the company.
In addition, HAL has carried out overhaul of 213 aircraft, helicopters and 540 engines. HAL’s R&D projects are on track for the requirement of the Indian armed forces.
HAL has produced 12 new Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) against the contract of 40, out of which six were produced ahead of schedule for the Indian Army.
The company said it recorded a turnover of over Rs. 19,400 crores (provisional and unaudited) for the financial year ended on March 31, 2019 (corresponding figure for the previous year was Rs. 18,284 crores). The Company has posted a revenue growth in excess of 6% during 2018-19 as compared to 3.8% during 2017-18.
“The performance of the Company in 2018-19 has encouraged us to focus more on design and development of indigenous products and technologies, develop aerospace and defence manufacturing eco-system and to be more dedicated towards meeting the current and future requirements of customers,” said R Madhavan, CMD-HAL.
During the next fiscal starting April 2019 HAL is expected to meet a major milestone of completing the manufacturing order for SU-30MKI and commence manufacturing operations of the KA-226T helicopter as a ‘Make in India’ project which it is making in partnership with Russian Helicopters.
HAL is also in track to licence-manufacture 18 more Su-30MKI fighter jets for the Indian Air Force in its Nashik plant.
