Bill to Increase FDI in Insurance Sector Gets Parliament’s Nod

On Monday, the parliament approved a bill to increase foreign direct investment (FDI) in the insurance sector from 49% to 74%. Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, who is piloting the Bill, stated that increasing the FDI limit in the insurance sector will support insurers in boosting additional funds and overcoming financial issues.

Govt Plans Scheme for Companies Making Display Units in India

Following the announcement of incentive schemes for mobile and IT hardware manufacturing, the government now is considering a major scheme for establishing display fabrication units in India. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has requested expressions of interest (EoIs) from organisations interested in establishing LCD/OLED/AMOLED/QLED-based display fabrication units in India.

‘Remote Voting’ Facility May be Launched in 2024 LS Polls: CEC

Chief election commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora on Saturday said that ‘remote voting’ facility — enabling persons who cannot be at their polling booths on election day for different reasons, to exercise their franchise from a remote location — may be offered in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, with first pilot project likely to start in the next 2-3 months.

India and France are working on their third joint satellite mission, even as the bilateral space collaboration is entering into multiple domains, including human spaceflight programme, Isro Chairman K Sivan said.
