India’s Big Vaccination Plan is Taking Shape: Mock Drill on December 28 & 29

While the biggest challenge was to stem the growth of COVID cases to which we have seen some reduction despite unlock guidelines, the next challenge is to roll-out the vaccine in the country, which by virtue of sheer volume will be world’s largest. Government has decided to run a mock rill of this plan on December 28 & 29, in four states that include Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat and Punjab.

Myanmar Inducts Submarine Handed Over by India

Myanmar on Friday (December 25) officially inducted submarine handed over by India in the month of October. INS Sindhuvir was commissioned as UMS Minye Theinkhathu and inducted on the 73rd anniversary of the Myanmar Navy. During the commissioning ceremony, Indian ambassador to Myanmar Saurabh Kumar was also present along with top brass of Myanmar’s Navy.

Apart from handmade paper, Tawang is known for two other local crafts – handmade pottery and handmade furniture – that are also getting extinct with passage of time. KVIC Chairman announced that within six months plans will be rolled out for revival of these two local arts. “Revival of handmade pottery will be taken up on priority under Kumhar Sashaktikaran Yojana very soon,” Saxena said.

Months After Cancelling Deal with China, India Acquires Heavy Cranes for Chabahar Port

Following a fresh tender for cranes with 65-tonne capacity, the equipment was procured from a Western company and is now expected to reach Chabahar by next month, people familiar with developments said on condition of anonymity. They declined to give further details in view of sensitivities linked to US sanctions on Iran, though Chabahar port has been granted a waiver.
