India Signs $50 Million Defence LoC Agreement to Boost Maritime Capabilities of Maldives

India on Sunday reiterated its commitment to the Maldives’ security and signed a $50 million defence Line of Credit agreement with it to boost the maritime capabilities of the strategic island nation, as external affairs minister S Jaishankar held talks with the country’s top leaders to further strengthen bilateral ties and explore new areas of cooperation.

Successful Launches of VL-SRSAM Missile System

Indigenously designed and developed by DRDO for Indian Navy, VL-SRSAM is meant for neutralizing various aerial threats at close ranges including sea-skimming targets. The current launches were carried out for demonstration of vertical launch capability as part of its maiden launch campaign.

IAF Deploys Apache Choppers To Guard Borders With China In Sikkim

The Indian Air Force (IAF), in a first, on Thursday deployed its most advanced Apache fighter helicopters in Sikkim, a frontier state with China. Two of four districts in Sikkim – North and East Sikkim – share boundaries with China along the eastern sector of the Line of Actual Control, along with Arunachal Pradesh.

Centre Okays 18 Border Foot Tracks in Arunachal Pradesh

The government has approved creation of 18 border patrol tracks in Arunachal Pradesh to improve patrolling along the India-China border, as proposed by a home ministry committee, said officials. This will help the Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) develop infrastructure in inaccessible areas adjoining China, they said.

Indian and Indonesian Navies Conduct Exercise in Arabian Sea

The Indian and Indonesian navies carried out a military exercise in the Arabian sea on Thursday to enhance operational interoperability and overall cooperation.Indian naval ship INS Talwar and Indonesian Navy’s multirole corvette KRI Bung Tomo were part of the exercise, the Indian Navy said.
