DRDO Develops Advanced Chaff Technology to Safeguard Naval Ships from Missile Attack

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed an Advanced Chaff Technology to safeguard the naval ships against enemy missile attack. Defence Laboratory Jodhpur (DLJ), a DRDO laboratory, has indigenously developed three variants of this critical technology namely Short Range Chaff Rocket (SRCR), Medium Range Chaff Rocket (MRCR) and Long Range Chaff Rocket (LRCR) meeting Indian Navy’s qualitative requirements. The successful development of Advanced Chaff Technology by DLJ is another step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat.

BDL-Manufactured Akash Missiles Flagged Off for Delivery

“The Akash Weapon System, designed and developed by DRDO with 96% indigenous content, is manufactured by BDL. There are a large number of supply chain partners, which include defence public sector units, MSMEs and private industry. Akash has the capability to engage aerial threats up to a maximum range of 25km and up to an altitude of 20km. It operates at a speed range of 1.8 to 2.5 Mach. The missile has been successfully test fired on several occasions and is one of the best in this category,” BDL said.

Military Exports: Malaysian Team to Visit Soon for LCA Trial

A Malaysian Air Force team is expected to visit India soon to assess the suitability of the light combat aircraft (LCA), a locally developed system that has recently been ordered in large numbers by the Indian Air Force (IAF), as the force looks to acquire aline of new fighter jets. The Malaysian team is likely to visit Bengaluru within two months, depending on travel restrictions, and will be given a full tour of the LCA production facilities, test infrastructure as well as a demonstration of its combat potential, said people aware of the matter.

First Batch of Women Soldiers: Ready, and Geared Up to Serve

Of the 100 cadets who’ll pass out in May, most are from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, followed by Karnataka. According to Lt Col Julee, the training officer, 27 of the 100 women are from UP, 26 from Haryana, eight from Karnataka, six from Kerala, two each from Himachal Pradesh and the northeastern states and one each from Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan. The remaining 26 are from across the states.

HANSA-NG Rolled Out, Next Step is Test Flying

HANSA-NG is an upgraded version of HANSA, which saw the first flight in 1993, and was certified in 2000. And, between 2000 and 2007, NAL developed 12 HANSA aircraft which were delivered to flying clubs across India through the DGCA (directorate general of civil aviation). It has since logged more than 4,000 flying hours with IIT-Kanpur still flying the aircraft.
