Indian Navy to Urgently Buy 10 Shipborne Drones

Aiming to boost surveillance capabilities against enemy warships operating in the Indian Ocean region, the Indian Navy has moved a proposal to urgently acquire 10 shipborne drones which can keep a close eye on activities of the adversaries.

GRSE Launches Portable Assault Bridge

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) on Thursday launched its portable assault bridge that can be broken up into pieces and carried by infantry soldiers as part of their kit. The bridge was inaugurated by defence minister Rajnath Singh through a video conference.

UPEIDA Signs MoU with Navy for Defence Corridor

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that after signing of the MOU, the Indian Navy will be able to find solutions to its problems through the Centre of Excellence being established at the Defence Corridor in the state. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also stressed on ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and has emphasised on innovation and domestic production,” said the CM.

Rajnath Singh Launches Online Portal to Promote Indigenisation in Defence Production

The aforementioned online portal that will promote indigenisation of defence items’ production is called “SRIJAN”.
The DPSUs, Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) and headquarters of the armed forces (SHQs) can display on SRIJAN those items that are being imported currently so that the Indian industry can design, develop and manufacture them domestically as per its capability, the ministry noted.

Shri Rajnath Singh Launches Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation (NIIO)

The NIIO is a three-tiered organisation. Naval Technology Acceleration Council (N-TAC) will bring together the twin aspects of innovation and indigenisation and provide apex level directives. A working group under the N-TAC will implement the projects. A Technology Development Acceleration Cell (TDAC) has also been created for induction of emerging disruptive technology in an accelerated time frame.

BEL Inaugurates Upgraded ATDS Maareech Manufacturing Facility

Recently, the Raksha Mantri, Rajnath Singh inaugurated the upgraded, state-of-the-art Maareech Integration Facility through Video Conference. Gowtama M V, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Electronics (BEL), on the occasion gave a presentation to the Raksha Mantri on Advanced Torpedo Decoy System (ATDS) Maareech. This initiative by BEL is in accordance with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, a self-reliant nation.

DAC Approves Procurement Proposals Worth ₹ 8,722.38 Crore, Including 106 Basic Trainer Aircraft for IAF

With Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) having successfully developed Basic Trainer Aircraft (HTT-40) Prototypes and certification process underway, the DAC approved procurement of 106 Basic Trainer Aircraft from HAL to address the basic training requirements of the Indian Air Force (IAF). Post Certification 70 Basic Trainer Aircraft will be initially procured from HAL and balance 36 after operationalisation of HTT-40 fleet in IAF.
