The ropeway will boost pilgrimage tourism in Jammu as it connects three temples, Jamvant Gufa Peerkho, Mahamaya Temple and Bahu Fort Temple.Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu inaugurated the ropeway service from the Bahu Fort temple to Mahamaya temple in Jammu.
The project worth Rs 75 crore aims to boost pilgrimage tourism. The project was planned in 1995 and to be operated from Bahu Fort to Mubarak Mandi Complex initially. It was modified and relocated when Mubarak Mandi and Bahu Fort were declared protected monuments.
All major facilities including restaurants, walkways, lawns and parking have been created at the ropeway project.

The project has been executed by the J&K Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC) which commenced formal work on it in June 2015. The foundation stone for the project was laid by former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in February 2014. This is the fourth cable car project in Jammu and Kashmir.
The 1.57-km-long cable car project has two sections, Section-I from Peer Kho to Mahamaya Park having a length of 1,184 mtr and Section-II from Bahu to Mahamaya Park having a length of 484 mtr.
There is no tower on Bahu to Mahamaya Park while there are seven towers between Peer Kho to Mahamaya Park.
