GE Renewable Energy has secured a 103MW turbine supply contract for two wind projects in Gujarat in India.
The company will supply 38 of its 2.7-132 wind turbines, for low wind speed conditions, for the Rajkot and Khambaliya projects being developed by Powerica.
Each 51.3MW project will each host 19 turbines. Both are expected to complete in the first half of 2021.
The Rajkot project wind project is located 40km from Rajkot city and the Khambaliya wind project is sited 55km from Jamnagar city.
Powerica won the projects through competitive bidding processes organised by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) and Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).
The wind farms will sell their output through power purchase agreements with 25 year terms.
Power will be distributed to consumers connected to the state grid and the national grid.
GE Renewable Energy south Asia onshore wind regional leader Gilan Sabatier said: “We are very pleased to have been selected by Powerica for these two projects and to begin our partnership with them.
“We have been able to offer the highest value proposition to Powerica by working closely together to optimise all aspects of the wind farms.”
Powerica chairman Naresh Oberoi said: “We are happy to start this new association with GE Renewable Energy and look forward to the commissioning of these two projects on time and with the best generation assets.
“We have found in GE Renewable Energy a partner for our renewable energy development journey. We will continue to support each other in future projects and development activities in India.”
