India-Poland Direct Flight to be Launched on September 12

Economic ties between India and Poland will receive a boost with the beginning of direct flights from September 12. According to Polish sources, the flight will be operated by LOT Polish Airlines and the first flight will fly Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Marcin Przydacz to India.

The direct flight will connect New Delhi with Warsaw and will operate five times a week. The visit of the Minister comes weeks after the visit of External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to Warsaw. Mr. Przydacz is expected to meet Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri and also T.S. Tirumurti, Secretary of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of External Affairs.

Mr. Przydacz is in charge of economic affairs and business and connectivity will be the priority during the visit. He will preside over the September 13 meeting between the Polish Agency of Trade and Investments and FICCI. The visit will also witness signing of an MoU between the University of Poland and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Poland is commemorating the beginning of the World War II and the agenda of Mr. Przydacz will also emphasise common Indian and Polish experience of the war. He will visit Kolhapur to celebrate India-Poland friendship that led to the stationing of thousands of Polish citizens in the kingdoms of Jamnagar and Kolhapur during the War.

Marking the 80th anniversary of the War, international events were held in Warsaw on September 1 when the war officially began with the invasion of Poland by Germany.
