NEW DELHI: As many as 49 terrorists have been neutralised in Jammu and Kashmir so far this year, even as 71 were apprehended and three surrendered over the same period, CRPF officials said here on Wednesday.
In April itself, two terrorists each were killed in Srinagar and Kulgam and one in Anantnag. Also, 10 terrorists were taken into custody by the security forces.
The officials also said recent anti-terror operations had resulted in neutralisation of one Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist in Anantnag on April 9 and two foreign terrorists in Srinagar on April 10. Two terrorists including a foreign terrorist were killed in Kulgam on April 11.
Meanwhile, in the northeast region, as many as 311 insurgents were apprehended while 55 surrendered from January 1, 2022 till date.

Sharing the security update from left-wing extremism-hit areas, the officials said that six Maoists had been killed in anti-Maoist operations while 183 were nabbed and 204 surrendered since January 1 till date.
The CRPF officials said that the force will provide a foolproof security cover to the Amarnath Yatra which is scheduled to start from June 30 this year after a gap of two years. The yatra will end on August 11.
CRPF will provide adequate security to the pilgrims and is chalking out strategies for the deployment of its security personnel, they said.
The CRPF is the nodal agency for providing security at the base-camps for the yatra and along the route to the holy cave.
Meanwhile, the Central intelligence agencies are assessing the possible threats to the yatra to help the CRPF and J&K police to make the security arrangements accordingly.
